I was just contacted by my old crewmate CMOR BA from Vancouver. We hadn’t spoken in a decade, but it sounds like he has been enjoying his time in the southern hemisphere — living throughout ‘Australasia’. Now he’s running an arts non-profit back home in Vancouver. He’s got a call for submissions open to all artists doing street work:

Artist call for submission of artwork

An Arts Charity event sponsored by Kids Help Phone and The G.A.I.N. Foundation

Who – The Kids Help Phone is a widely appreciated charity aimed at assisting Canada’s youth with everyday problems within our communities. The Kids Help Phone is celebrating their 20th anniversary and is looking for new and exciting avenues to reach the youth of today. The G.A.I.N. Foundation (Gallery for Artists Internationally Networking) is a non-profit charity with the main focus of assisting artistically minded youth to pursue their passion in a socially conscious manner through public and private exposure of their artwork.

What – The above 2 charities are working in conjunction to showcase national and international artists talents. These charities have come up with an idea that gives artists the opportunity to contribute their works in return for nationwide exposure through media as well as awareness through corporate sponsors.

The Project – To compile 30 artist’s works and have these artists paint 1 of 30 standard school locker doors (approx. 12 inches x 60 inches) in a medium preferred by the artist. The above artists will be provided a locker door and a 6 pack of Montana Gold to create a piece of art work that will then be donated to the charities and auctioned off to individual and corporate sponsors, with all proceeds going back to help the non-profit charities involved. In return to the artists involved you will be invited to the Gala / Auction type event held in Vancouver, B.C. where you will be able to network with over 200+ attendees

Why – The benefit to artists involved will be nationwide exposure which will encompass media outlets and your art displayed in high end locations throughout Vancouver. Furthermore you will have an opportunity to get involved with networking yourselves, and your art with accredited collectors and sponsors.

Where – The fundraising event will be held in the Vancouver, B.C. Canada

When – September 2009

How – We are submitting this request for art from you, as you are some of the most talented artists in what you do. If you would be interested in becoming involved with this project please let us know either by email or phone. We can also assist in any further information that you may request.
