I miss my Motorola Tenor

Don’t get me wrong, I love my iPhone, but mostly for being able to do a bunch of things with it. Get my email, surf the web, listen to music, watch videos, check my finances, Google maps, etc. I can even update this blog with it.

I just can’t stand talking on the phone. Any phone actually. I rather spend quality time face to face, than have a distracted bullshit session on the stupid phone. Sadly, as all my friends & family know, you’re more than likely to get my voice mail instead of me. Partly because I get lousy reception and dropped calls, other times I have a bunch of stuff going on and I don’t have time to chat. So you’ll end up going to voice mail, I’ll end up getting the pertinent info from your message and then I can get back to you.

You never saw an episode of Star Trek where Captain Kirk just chatted on the tricorder. He told his crew what was up or got his info and then it was “Kirk Out”; he was back to fighting, screwing or killing aliens. He’d beam back, kick it with everybody, Spock farts, they have a laugh and it was a wrap.

Anyway, back in the nefarious days of ’96, I had a Motorola Tenor. This thing was great because it let you receive voice mail messages instantly right through the pager with the original senders voice. So you never had to chat with anyone and they could leave you a short message. Too bad this service didn’t last long and I’m surprised what I paid for this clunky piece of crap back then. I guess it all didn’t matter, since I ended up losing mine on some train tracks after a chase from Baltimore’s finest.

House Of Pain X Adidas Originals

Posted: March 17th, 2009 | Author: Con | Filed under: Boston, Gear, Music, Shoes | No Comments »

Top o’ the morning, happy St. Pats and all that. For those of you in Boston you should check this out:

From High Snobiety:

adidas Originals and hip-hop group House of Pain collaborated for a special edition St. Patrick’s Day shoe called the Campus 80 House of Pain. House of Pain member Danny Boy O’Connor contributed design concepts and feedback while adidas designers brought the shoe to life.

The green, gold and white color way of the Campus 80 House of Pain shoe was inspired by the band’s Irish heritage. The band’s iconic crest, first introduced on the debut album, “House of Pain,” is featured on the tongue. The deep vintage suede exterior completes the classic look. The sneaker is limited to 1500 pairs worldwide.

Concepts will be hosting the launch event in Boston on March 17th, providing live music and drinks. Concepts also created a Boston Celtics Jersey in collaboration with adidas and House Of Pain, that will be released at the event, along with the sneakers.

I already copped mine!

And here’s a video to get you hyped to go drink your green beer and break something; glasses, hearts, drinking records, the law… I’m counting on you. To my fellow islanders, I’ll be grumbling into a glass of Jameson myself, but my antics are sidelined this year. I have jury duty tomorrow at 9am.

Sometimes, I hate this city.
