Since The Wire is gone and I’m still waiting for season 2 of Eastbound & Down, I’m busy watching my new favorite show

My girl Erin Gray

It’s funny how things in life come full circle. This time it only took about 30 years for one of my first crushes to give me the time of day.

This is actually a birthday gift I finally got from my friend Kasra. I don’t remember how the original conversation went down since this was awhile ago. But one night over a few drinks on my porch I admitted that when I was a kid, I was in love with Erin Gray from the TV shows Buck Rogers in the 25th Century and Silver Spoons. I especially thought she was super hot in this particular episode where she was turned into some sort of sultry, scary alien vampire. It was burned straight into my cranium. High-definition before its time.

Anyhow, he ran into her in NYC late last year and told her the story. She thought it was funny so she hooked me up!

The History Channel screws up

I really can’t stand propagated ignorance when it comes to graffiti and gangs. You would figure the History Channel would do a little research while they are putting a show together. Hopefully they will clear up the mistake.

Well, it looks like they edited down a lot of footage so I didn’t get my amazing conversation with with Tyler Perry on the show. It went something like this:

Him: “Hey Tim, what are you painting right here?”

Me: “I’m painting some grass.”

Awkward silence.

And then they move on.

But my canvas that I was asked to do, did make it onto the show. It’s a crazy sunrise with 15 hidden and abstracted fish in it for the kids to find, with a little fishing boat in the water.

Here’s a few bonus flicks from the buildout and the Albus Cavus team. This was done in late August, and the A/C in the school hadn’t been finished, so it was probably close to 100 degrees with humidity in the basement while working…

Another entry for the “Bizarre, how did I end up here” chapter in my autobiography.

I’m going to be out with the lady tomorrow evening for Valentine’s Day, so this will be recorded to watch later. I got invited by Albus Cavus to paint a canvas for this episode and also ended up helping them paint a mural inside The Fishing School. If my few lines with Tyler Perry make the show, then they were definitely hurting for footage. Otherwise, I’ll be playing the background. I’ve got a bunch of photos I’ll post later since we’ve been under a gag order the last few months by ABC until the episode airs.
