The American Cancer Society's Riviera Ball on November 21 will honor a trio of high-profile cancer survivors with very different stories in the Spanish colonial warmth of Santa Barbara's Bacara Resort and Spa overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Jewelry designer Simone I. Smith (wife of LL COOL J), entertainment law icon Doug Davis (son of Clive Davis) and 11-year-old Lexi Brown of Santa Maria will share their cancer journeys during the evening, proceeds of which fund the Society's groundbreaking research program; free services for cancer patients, their families and caregivers; early detection and prevention programs; and advocacy to assure equal access to quality cancer care for all.

The works in SELECT 2013 have been chosen by a group of notable curators from the region’s most prestigious institutions. We are pleased to present this incredible selection of work which will be on view Wednesdays through Saturdays from noon to 6pm, February 20-March 15. The works will be available for purchase the night of the gala.

The public and auction guests are invited to the Exhibition Opening Reception and Presentation of the Alice Denney Award for Support of Contemporary Art Meet the artists and curators of SELECT and join us as we present the eighth Alice Denney Award to Molly Ruppert for her service to artists and the arts in Washington.

After the exhibition opening, the work will remain on view Wednesdays through Saturdays from 12:00 noon to 6:00pm through Friday, March 2, 2012. The exhibition is open to the public free of charge.

ART AUCTION GALA (TICKETED) Saturday, March 3, 2012 6:30-MIDNIGHT

The works presented will be available for purchase on March 3, 2012 at SELECT: WPA 2012 Art Auction Gala, an event that, for the last 31 years, has helped WPA raise funds and awareness to support contemporary artists in our region. The artists invited to participate in this exhibition were selected by a group of notable curators from some of the most important institutions in our region. The works represent a cross section of media and disciplines, providing a remarkable survey of contemporary artistic practice.
